The brief was to design and make a record rack with a mid-century furniture flare to store my client's, Raiden, 150+ records. As a music aficionado and avid record collector, Raiden's record collection would progressively grow over time. The design must account for this growth.

RAIDEN is a flat-packed, 3 tier record rack designed for disassembly. The records rest on 2 parallel rods, and are held upright by aluminium sheet ends that slide along these rods. The aluminium ends are locked into position with shaft collars. RAIDEN provides a minimal alternative to the often "boxy" record storage furniture available on the market. The holding capacity of RAIDEN can be cutomised by replacing the rods with alternative lengths. Longer lengths may require an increase in rod diameter size. RAIDEN can also be made is shorter sizes, in different powdercoat colours, different timber and different coloured plastics for knob details.

This iteration of RAIDEN was made from recycled and reclaimed materials, with the exception of specific hardware and mechanisms. These reclaimed materials include spotted gum timber that has failed QC sourced from Tait Enterprises, aluminium sheets taken from Bayswater Scrap Metals, used carbon fibre tubes found on Facebook Marketplace and HDPE plastic collected and melted from personal household waste.
